Saya Toma a perdu ses parents et son jeune frère dans un accident d'avion alors qu'elle était lycénne. L'inspecteurchargé de l'enquête lui dit alors : "Il est fort probable que votre famille ait été tuée par des gens qui ont un pouvoir SPEC." Saya Toma, qui n'a jamais oublié les propos du détective, décide de devenir détective. 6 ans plus tard, elle retourne au Japon après avoir été formée par le FBI aux États-Unis.
